What is a vasectomy?
Vasectomy is a surgical procedure where the bilateral vas deferens (the tubes that carry sperrm out of the testicles) are cut in order to accomplish sterilization of the man. The procedure is usually done with a local anesthetic (numbing the area) in the physician’s office.
Is a vasectomy permanent?
Physicians perform this procedure with the intention for it to be a permanent form of male sterilization. Although procedures for restorting fertility after vasectomy exists, there is no guarantee that fertility can be restored once a vasectomy is performed.
